Discussion:
Money laundering is more than a financial crime. It is a tool that makes all other crimes possible from drug trafficking to political crimes. The unfortunate reality is that it is not only the dubious banks in less regulated countries that make money laundering possible; but also the banks in supposedly highly regulated countries. Along with the traditional money laundering schemes facilitated by the traditional banks, the cryptocurrency industry has also been criticized for being a tool for money laundering. This presentation will provide key lessons for bankers and finance professionals in implementing anti-money laundering legislation.
